Füge Productions

FÜGE, acronym for Independently Together (Függetlenül Egymással), is a Budapest-based umbrella and production organization founded in 2006 dedicated to supporting the Hungarian independent performing art scene, nurturing young talent and facilitating innovation.

The FÜGE team, over 20 committed professionals, provides infrastructural framework and production background for performing arts projects as well as cross-disciplinary projects in the form of fundraising, administration, communication, dissemination, touring and more. FÜGE supports, facilitates the artistic activities of a large number of local companies and creators, from new-comers to up and coming artists and established theatremakers and creators.

FÜGE also initiates productions, coordinates cooperation projects with different partners, as well as runs some of the most relevant grants for the local scene in the areas of talent management (Titánium), supporting up and coming artists (Staféta) and theatre in education (Classroom Theatre Review).

FÜGE is also working for visibility of the independent scene through various partnerships, does lobbying for funds and generally advocates the importance of the arts.

In 2012 FÜGE opened Jurányi Art Incubator House, a production and incubator house and a home for a diverse creative community. 6.700 m2 of classrooms and other school facilities on 5 floors of a former school building in the 2nd district of Budapest are now stages, offices of arts organisations and NGO’s, rehearsal rooms, studios, workshops and showrooms. Apart from being a well-liked downtown theatre showing 40-50 shows per month - around 300 performances and events a year − on four stages. The main stage has 150 seats, there are two chamber stages of 80, and 70 seats and a versatile venue for classroom projects.
FÜGE is a Public Benefit Association that has its office at Jurányi House.

Jurányi House is a vibrant cultural hub with a gallery, a café, studios for public dance classes and communal spaces attracting and serving a diverse audience year-round. The building is managed by FÜGE and is owned by the municipality.

At FÜGE we believe in cooperation and partnership and work for the enrichment of the performing arts scene as well as to facilitate the development of artists by mentoring and creating opportunities. We believe in the changemaking potential of the arts in society and actively seek to engage with work that initiates conversations.

There are currently 87 FÜGE members: creators, theatre and dance companies, creative businesses, non-profit organizations.
